For hundreds of years, people around the world have wanted to create robots
to do their fighting. Thanks to twenty-first century technology, we have the
power to do so (albeit in limited form). This spirit of destructive creation
flourishes in BattleBots: Beyond the Battlebox from Majesco.
The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth
Based on the popular Comedy Central show BattleBots, which in turn was inspired
by San Francisco art pranksters Survival Research Laboratories, Beyond the
Battlebox features remote-controlled machines that resemble miniature mutant
power tools. These information-age products of destruction face off in
gladiator-style combat to the "death" (or more accurately, malfunction).
Battles involve two, three or four robots. Victory is awarded to the last Bot
standing. You must use any means necessary to keep your Bot functional,
including slamming, pushing and even flipping your opponent.
Heavy Metal Combat
Once you're dropped into the arena, anything goes! Not only must you contend
with opposing kill-Bots, but the arena itself presents its own set of
challenges. Booby traps that would make Indiana Jones whimper litter the play
field. Flamethrowers, buzz saws, metallic spikes and spinners threaten to scrap
your BattleBot at every turn.
Begin your career by constructing a BattleBot out of spare tires, armor,
weapons, batteries and motors. Your funding is limited at first, but success in
the ring means more cash for your BattleBot.
Multiplayer Mayhem
If you'd rather not spend the time and effort fine-tuning your own machine, you
can simply hop into Brawl Mode for instant gratification. As many as four
friends can join the metal-head-to-metal-head combat. Multiplayer action
requires GBAs and Game Paks for every player and enough GBA Game Link cables to
connect all systems.
Bring home the finest in robotic combat with BattleBots: Beyond the Battlebox.
Here, every battle is make or break!
