Difficulty is geared towards younger players, but everyone can challenge the Puzzle mode. In this mode, you are handed a scenario, then must achieve checkmate within the number of moves specified.

You can play against a friend by either passing a single Game Boy Advance and Game Pak back and forth, or by using two Game Boy Advances, two Game Paks, and a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable. A password feature allows you to continue where you left off.
