The hit Kids' WB! cartoon flurry-punches onto the Game Boy Advance.
A side-scrolling brawler in the mold of Final Fight, Jackie Chan Adventures:
Legend of the Dark Hand follows the pow-packed journeys of genial archeologist
Jackie Chan.
Jackie trips around the globe in search of eight sacred scrolls. Each is stored
in an ornate dragon box. The evil Dark Hand gang is also in hot pursuit of the
scrolls, but for reasons that are strictly nefarious.
Jackie's cartoon cohorts are on hand, including tough-guy Captain Black,
befuddled Uncle and feisty niece Jade. Dark Hand minions include supersized Hak
Foo and henchthugs Chow, Ratso and Finn, all backed up by numberless Shadowkhan
warriors. Dapper but deadly Valmont leads the Dark Hand, but the true mastermind
is Shendu, a demon trapped in an ancient artifact. If Shendu and other demons
are released, they will achieve their sinister dream of world domination.
Publisher Activision has perfectly caught the look and feel of the hit cartoon.
The game bristles with fun interactives, like fire hydrants that burst open and
spout water.
But it's often tough to calculate just where Jackie should jump. The resulting
emphasis on trial and error may try the patience of the show's young fans.
