Take flight with the crew of the SDF-1 in Robotech: The Macross Saga from TDK
Mediactive and developers Lucky Chicken.
The Year Is 1999
Based on the ground-breaking anime series of the same name, Robotech enlists
players to assume the role of five of the finest pilots in the Robotech Defense
Force. It's up to Rick Hunter and company to safeguard the world from impending
invasion by the alien Zentradi fleet.
The Last Starfighter
As luck would have it, you have been chosen as Earth's final line of defense.
Gameplay takes place from a classic 2D side-scrolling perspective as your lone
pilot is sent to battle a nearly limitless alien armada.
Three Ways to Melee
Each character has his or her own Veritech Valkyrie, a versatile fighting
machine capable of combat in nearly any situation. Your high-tech mecha can
spontaneously transform into three unique attack modes with the push of a
button.
Fighter mode models your Veritech fighter after an F-14 Tomcat and allows for
high-speed maneuverability. If you need to confront your foes head-on, switch to
Battloid mode. Equipped with a high-powered machine gun, the Battloid offers a
180-degree attack radius and can run on any terrain.
Rookie pilots may want to stick with the all-purpose Guardian, which is a hybrid
of the other two modes. The Guardian offers the same level of firepower as the
Fighter and the ground capabilities of the Battloid.
Fly the Friendly Skies
If going solo has you down, plug in a second Game Boy Advance and have one of
your friends play wing man. Two GBAs, a GBA Game Link Cable and two Game Paks
are required for multiplayer action.
There's also a versus mode for competitive four-player dogfights. Multiplayer
action requires GBAs and Game Paks for every player and enough GBA Game Link
cables to connect all systems.
Fans of the original series will feel at home with Lucky Chicken's digital
storytelling. Each stage is based on a pivotal plot point of the show and is
highlighted by story clips before every mission.
Even the pickiest of Robotech purists will be pleased with the in-game
soundtrack and visuals that closely emulate the original animated classic. The
handy battery-save feature will automatically save your progress after each
successful mission.
Final Flight Check
The battle to save humanity continues on your Game Boy Advance. With fast-paced
action and a nostalgia-packed story line, Robotech: The Macross Saga is not to
be missed by fans of the series.
