Once Upon A Time

Set in Fairy Tale Land, Hassle atthe Castle follows Shrek on a side-scrolling journey of damsel saving and comic fisticuffs. Players must traverse 21 fantasy-based stages over seven immense worlds.

If nothing else, being an ogre does have its perks. Instead of focusing on stealth or fancy acrobatics, Shrek relies on his fists to overcome any situation he comes across. After charging up your power meter, you can unleash a screen-clearing attack.

You must face wave after wave of Lord Farquaad's cronies while completing required objectives. Tasks vary from protecting innocent townsfolk to knocking out the Big Bad Wolf. After rescuing your allies, Donkey and Princess Fiona join the list of playable characters.

What Are Friends For?

Saving the day isn't everything. Sometimes, there's nothing better than an old-fashioned brawl. Multiplayer comes in two distinct flavors: Single Pak head-to-head mode and Multi Pak four-player brawls.

The winner of each battle is determined by whomever has the most gold coins by the end of the match. Naturally, these tokens are obtained by smacking each other around within the given time limit.

Two GBAs, a GBA Game Link cable and one Game Pak are required for head-to-head action. Multiplayer action requires one Game Pak, GBAs for every player and enough GBA Game Link cables to connect all systems.

Who's The Fairest Of Them All?

Staying true to the kid-friendly formula set by the movie, TDK Mediactive has shrunk Shrek and company to pint-sized proportions. Characters look cartoonier than their big screen counterparts and feature smooth 2D sprite animation.

Like most video game brawlers, Shrek: Hassle at the Castle is a quick ride. But considering the modest price, it's a worthwhile romp for younger gamers and Shrek fans of all ages.
