Want excitement? A Sound Of Thunder delivers the goods with challenging gameplay
that pits you against prehistoric creatures that aren't nearly as friendly as
Barney. Based on a Ray Bradbury short story (and the forthcoming major motion
picture starring Edward Burns), A Sound of Thunder's hero is Travis, a
time-traveling big-game hunter. The ominous sound of the title is that of a
dinosaur walking, shaking the earth with each step. For some unlucky humans, it
will be the last sound they ever hear.
As Travis, your goal is to figure out why these ancient beasts have followed you
back to present-day Chicago and then send them back to their prehistoric home.
Travis pursues the brutes through the buildings and streets of the Windy City,
snatching up weapons, ammo and vests, the last line of protection against the
ancient creatures.
It's hard to believe that dinosaurs died out because, in this game, they're
tough to kill. As long as you're facing the evil ones, the gun you select (with
the L Button) will target the closest creature, and the A Button fires.
Weapons range from machine guns to shotguns and more, but ammunition is a bit
scarce. Don't waste shotgun blasts on the small enemies, and likewise, don't try
to cut a big'n down with a machine gun. If you don't use your bullets
effectively, a T. Rex will use you as a toothpick.
