Banpresto's legendary mecha strategy series comes to the U.S. for the very first
time.
Nearly two centuries after the Space Age began, a mysterious meteor that crashed
in the South Pacific is found to contain a technology unknown to mankind. The
very real possibility that the unknown creators might prove hostile sparks the
creation of an elite force, known as Personal Troopers, to defend earth against
possible invasion.
The game's battles are turn-based in nature, and the weapons equipped on your
robot mechs will determine their movement. There are tons of long- and mid-range
weapons your mechs will carry, meaning you won't need to move right next to an
enemy to instigate an attack.
Customization is a big part of the game, and before and after each battle, you
can soup your mech up big time. In addition to your mech arsenal, the mech
pilots play a substantial role in battles. Each one has special skills to help
either themselves or other team members. Some skills affect movement, others
healing. Mostly the skills affect attack and defense. RPG fans will spend loads
of time fine-tuning the pilots and robot mechs.
The battles play out like your basic turn-based strategy game. Select your pilot
and mech, enhance your skill before the attack, move and then attack. Repeat
often. The presentation isn't flashy, but it gets the job done. The storyline is
very expansive, and if you can keep all the characters and acronyms straight,
you'll no doubt enjoy the plot.
