Racing fans who prefer realism over power-ups that change rival drivers into
oinking pigs should go for a spin with Kemco's Top Gear GT Championship.
Players can race through six of Japan's most challenging real-world race courses
or use the excellent track editor to create their own custom courses. GT
Championship features 22 authentic cars from the All Japan Grand Touring Car
circuit, each of which can be tuned for optimal performance on the various
courses and weather settings. Top Gear GT Championship gives you pinpoint
control over steering, brakes, gear ratio, tire inflation, aerodynamics and
more.
In Championship Mode, you can race for an astounding 10 year's worth of seasons
with a single driver. To conquer the game, you must win first place in the
highest GT 500 class. Practice before essaying a qualifying run, which
determines your starting position. Placing first, second or third will net
points that be used to advance to the next season and unlock goodies.
As many as four friends can compete head-to-head. Multiple Game Paks are
required.
Kemco's Top Gear franchise started out on the Super NES way back in '92, then
branched out to the GBC and N64. The big attraction here is clearly the
first-rate Course Edit mode. While your creativity is blunted at first, you can
unlock new track sections in Championship Mode.
